Where you sleep

Shiplap, cedar
and a big window.

Whitewashed shiplap, a cedar ceiling, dark hardwood underfoot, and a window that looks straight out over the grass. Quiet enough that the loudest thing you will hear is the geese deciding it is morning.

And upstairs

There is a whole
floor above.

Climb the stairs and the house opens up again — a long room under a cedar plank ceiling with more beds, a sofa, a television and doors onto the balcony.

This is where the wedding party ends up. It is also, reliably, where the children ask to sleep — which is how the grown-ups get the quiet bedroom downstairs.
